Medbury —The Medbury Women’s Institute held a successful evening recently Mrs Rennie, a member of the Pines Beach Women s Institute, showed some films of her recent trip to England. Of special in- ' terest were several shots of Denham College, which is run for the benefit of institute members who wish to take lectures in any of the cultural arts. Competition results were:—unusual container for flowers: Mrs H. Brooker 1. Small bloom: Mrs A. Dalzell 1, Mrs Philpott 2 Cooking: Mrs Dalzell 1, Mrs M. Philpott 2. Vegetables: Mrs Brooker 1, Mrs Philpott 2. The Peaks.—Mrs McKeegan gave a practical demonstration of fabric printing at the monthly meeting of the' Peaks Women’s Institute, and a report on the group meeting Was read. Competition results were:—large bloom: Mrs Rogers 1, Mrs J. Hewitt 2, Mrs L. Hassall 3. Small bloom: Mrs Costello L Mrs L. Hassall 2, Mrs Rogers 3. Spike: Mrs Costello 1, Mrs Rogers 2, Miss Crean 3. Cluster: Mrs Rogers 1, Mrs Gray 2, Mrs Rogers 3. Something new from something old: Mrs J. Hewitt 1, Mrs Gray 2 and 3. Rakaia.—Mrs A. Cromie presided at the monthly meeting of the Rakaia Women’s Institute. An appeal was made to members to help rehabilitate a family of displaced persons intending to live at Hinds. Competition results were as follows: small vase of spring flowers: Mrs Bell 1, Mrs Albert Allan 2, Mrs Albert Mead 3. Women’s knitted Cardigan: Mrs Robertson 1, Mrs Fred Allan 2.
