MR DRENNAN NOT OFFICER IN COMMUNIST PARTY
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, August 24. I A statement issued to-day by the New Zealand Communist Partv states that Mr Alex Drennan, who was rei ferred to yesterday by the Prime Minister (Mr Holland) as "New Zealand’s leading Communist," is a member of the Communist Party, but , holds no official position in the partv. The statement also denies that there is any liaison or understanding be- ' tween the New Zealand Communist [Party and the Labour Party.
