(NJ!. Preu Association—Copyright) (Rec. 7 p.m.) GENEVA. August 2. United States production has soared to its highest level in history in answer to the “challenge of aggression,” the American delegate to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (Mr Isador Lubin) told the Council to-day.

Mr Lubin said that production in the second quarter of 1951 had reached an annual rate of £117,800,000,000, “exceeding even the peak year of World War II.” Simultaneously defence expenditure had climbed to an annual rate which, by 1952, would be almost £23,200,000,000.
