(Rec. 11 p.m.) PARIS, August 3. In a fresh effort to end France’s 25-dav political crisis, the President (Mr Vincent Auriol) to-day called on Mr Rene Pleven, a Radical deputy, to form a Government. Earlier to-day. the National Assembly refused to endorse Mr Maurice Petsche (Independent Conservative) as Prime Minister. Mr Petsche failed by 33 votes to gain the required absolute majority of 314.
