INSANITY
Sir,—A writer recently in your columns referred to the large number of public houses near Killarney and the large number of inmates in the local mental hospital. These facta, though accurate, can be misleading unless it is understood that lunacy Is as great a menace elsewhere as it is in Southern Ireland. Hammerfest, the most northerly city in Europe, contains the greatest building in Norway, the mental hospital, and everywhere else is likewise. The U.S.A. and the U.S.S.R. are threatened equally and are equally a threat because of our mental instability. The evidence from vegetables, such as musk losing fragrance everywhere simultaneously and Lemmings migrating into the ocean periodically and men fighting wars perpetually is that mentality may alter in masses of vegetables, animals and men by a telepathic process; and we are conflicting groups because we are really one afflicted group, gone in the head.—Yours, etc..
