Mazengatb, K.C t , in tbfe Supreme Court at Timaru before Mt Justice Northcroft this mortpng, when a claim was made by Frank Gordon Taylor, a motor mechanic, of St. Andrews against John O’Connell, a farmer,, of the Teschemaker settlement. MaKikihi. for special damages of £1342 14s 6d and general damages of £6OOO for injuries arising out of a motor accident. Dr. Mazengarb, with him Mr S. J. Smith, appeared for Taylor, ana Mr C. S. Thomas, with him Mr E. M. Hay. for O'Connell. His Honour said he would make an order on the lines suggested by counThe action arose out of an accident on the Main North road at St. Andrews on June 2. 1949. It was claimed that a stationary cat- was on the gravel strip outside the bitumen surface ana that while Taytor was examining this car car driven, by . Nora Mary Catherine O Connell had been negligently and unskilfully driven, crushing .Taylor between the vehicles and dragging him along the ?urface of the road. iTayipr suffered serious injuries, he had to receive considerable treat.ftwnt, ana he had been totally tai capacitated since the accident, it was claimed.
