WOOL SALES TO BE HELD

Disposal Of 1950-51 Clip

NO CHANGES IN ROSTER (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 31. Wool sales already announced for the clearance of the remainder of the 1950-51 New Zealand wool clip and the new aeaaon’s crutchings would be held according to schedule, said the Minister of Agriculture and of Marketing (Mr K, J. Holyoake) to-night. “This decision has been reached by the Government after consultations today with the Auction Sales Advisory Committee,” he said. “Thia committee, which consists of representatives of the New Zealand Wool Board, the Wool Disposal Commission, and the New Zealand Woolbuyers' and Woolbrokors’ Associations, after considering all the circumstances, particularly bearing in mind the discussions at present being held in Washington, unanimously recommended that sales be proceeded with.

“This decision means that the sale scheduled for August 15 at Auckland will be held, with following sales according to the published roster,”. he added. "The stock position in our historic markets is at an almost unprecedented low level, and the New Zealand Government and its advisory committee are therefore of the opinion that in all the circumstances the best interests of producers and the Dominion will-be served by effecting an early clearance of the carry-over of 1950-51 wool.”

As previously announced by the Minister, sales to dispose of the remaming 294,000 bales of the 1950-51 clip arid of a considerable quantity of crutehings will be held on dates from August 15 to October 12. Sales will be held at all the main wool-selling centres.

The main series of auctions for the 1951-52 season is, according to a previous announcement, due to start on November 12. Mr Holyoake’s statement to-night made no reference to this later series of auctions.
