ATOM POWER IN INDUSTRY
ARGENTINA’S HOPES (Rec. 10 p.m.) BUENOS AIRES. June 30. The Argentine President (General Peron) told a press conference that Argentina would use its atomic energy facilities to produce cheap power for industry.
He added that Argentina would have plenty of cheap atomic power available when the rest of the world was exhausted industrially by “the next war.”
General Peron held the conference at the Huemil Island Atomic Research Centre.
“Argentina will first produce atomic power for its own use,” he said. “Then we will see what we can do for others. It must be understood that this is business.
“The world is entering a state of war. When the next war ends and the world tries to reconstruct itself. Argentina will be able'to compete in the industrial field, as it will have the fundamental element cheap energy.” General Peron said Argentina planned to buy cyclotrons and other equipment for atomic experiments, mainly from the Phillips Electrical Company, of the Netherlands.
