REHABILITATION HOUSING LOAN

INCREASE OF £3OO PURCHASE OF EXISTING DWELLINGS (Neu> Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 18. An increase irom £l5OO to £lBOO in the maximum rehabilitation housing loan for the purchase of existing dwellings was announced to-day by the Acting-Minister of Rehabilitation (Mr J. R. Marshall). There will be a corresponding increase in the supplementary interest-free loans. Mr Marshall recalled that early last year the maximum loan for those building their own homes was increased to £2OOO. It was now possible to give extra assistance to those buying existing houses. The 5 per cent, supplementary in-terest-free loan will now bg payable on properties costing £lBOO, and will taper off from that point. Higher supplementary .loan limits are provided where there are three or more children in the family. “It is hoped that these increased loans will be of material help to those former servicemen who still require rehabilitation assistance to meet their housing needs,” said Mr Marshall.
