DRAPERY BULK STORE GUTTED
FIRE IN BLENHEIM (New Zealand Press Association) BLENHEIM, June 6. The interior of the bulk store of the drapery firm of Girling’s, Ltd., was gutted by Are last night, and the damage will run into thousands of pounds. Many lines held in considerable quantities will be almost impossible to replace in present conditions. The insurances total £6OOO on stock and building, but the loss will be far above that figure. The fire apparently smouldered for hours, and it was not until late at night that smoke escaping from the building was noticed. Firemen had to break their way in with axes.
