SUGAR FOR SOUTH ISLAND
DISCHARGE OF BRITISH CARGO (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, June 6. The cargo of 10,000 tons of refined sugar purchased in Britain for New Zealand will be discharged in the South Island. This was announced tonight. Because of distribution difficulties since February the South Island has felt the shortage more seriously than the North Island. It is hoped that raw sugar from Queensland will reach the Chelsea refineries by the time the British sugar reaches the South Island.
