HORORATA RED CROSS

A successful year’s work was reported by the president (Mrs G. H. Grigg), who presided at the annual meeting of the Hororata sub-centre of th£ Rea Cross Society. Members were asked to send in produce for the Red Cross Market Day in Christchurch later this month. During the year many parcels of new and second-hand clothing were sent to headquarters for distribution overseas. The branch now has 221 members.

A motion of sympathy was passed with the relatives of Mrs Duncan, who was an ardent worker for the society.

The following officers were elected: president, Mrs Grigg; vice-presidents, Mesdames W. Stone, Barber, and J. Ballagh; honorary secretary and treasurer, Mrs I. B. Morris; honorary auditor, Mr D. Patterson; committee, Mesdames R. D. Gray, R. Murray, F. Wright, G. Smith, I. Ballagh, W. R. Oliver, B. Halliday, D. W. Gray, Templer, and Patterson.
