GREATER VALUES IN 1950-51 YEAR

Although nearly 100 fewer building permits were issued by the ChriMchurcti City Council during the year en&ed March 31, 1051, than in the previous year, the values of the 1950-51 permits exceeded those for the 1949-50 year by i- 450.549. There was also a uecreasc in the number oi permits i sued in March this year, compared wrih the corresponding period last year, but the value of the 1951 permits was £39,811 more than the 1950 figures.

During the 1950-51 year, most permits were issued for the St. Aloans ward. The values of the permits was ai o the greatest in the St. Albans ward. In 1950-51, 519 permits of a ictal value of £318,317 were issued for the St. Albaßi ward, compared with 581, of a total value of £287,861 lor the 1949-50 year. The total number of permits issued during the 1950-51 year was 2307, of a total value of £1,089,382. In the 1919-50 year, 2403 permits valued at £ 1,238,833 w ere issued. In March, 1951, lb'B permits of a value oi £115,572 were issued, compared with 170 permits valued at £75,761 tor March. 1950.
