RETIRED FROM PUBLIC TRAINING

F. A. Roberts, who at Riccarton has trained champions and near-champious tn Defaulter, Citril, Irish Note. Blue Trout, Saluation, and Kartikeya, as well as several other good winners, lias retired from public training and his activities will now be confined to horses’ racing in his own colours. The exception mav be Kettledrum, which is owned by Mr E. E. Steele, who is now living in Australia. Roberts has sold his old stable to Mr H. D. Greenwood, who will in future have his horses trained by K. J. Thomson. Mr Greenwood has had several horses trained by Roberts, the best of them being Defaulter, an outstanding winner in New Zealand and Australia.

Jock Scott had his last rage from Roberts’s stable at Oamaru on Saturday. The Finis three-year-old has now joined F. Trilford’s Washdyke team. Roberts himself raced Citril, the best sprinter of her time in New Zealand. Citril was retired two years ago and now has a colt foal by Tormie. Decameron, a winner this season, is raced by Roberts, and Notable races in the colurs of Mrs Roberts,
