OBITUARY
MR L. O. HALL
(New Zealand Press Association) WHANGAREI, April 13. The death occurred suddenly at New Plymouth Hospital to-day of Mr Laurie Oliver Hall, Town Clerk of Whangarei for the last 15 years. He was 49. Five weeks ago while travelling to the municipal conference at Christchurch, Mr Hall was taken seriously ill at New Plymouth and was admitted to hospital there. Born at Oamaru, he was educated primary school there and at Rotorua High School. He joined the Audit Department, and in November, 1927, was appointed accountant to the Whangarei Borough Council. In April, 1936, he became Town Clerk. He was secretary of the Northland Provincial Patriotic Council from its inception. For his distinguished work in this connexion he was awarded the M.8.E.. His wife and daughter survive him.
