NO RETURN TO SHIPS

COOKS AND STEWARDS AT WELLINGTON (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, April 12. Cooks and stewards at Wellington will remain ashore until Federated Seamen's Union members are again engaged to man ships according to a decision at a meeting of the Federated Cooks and Stewards’ Union to-day. The secretary (Mr W. A. Fox) said the decision was unanimous, and he had been authorised to issue a statement. “This meeting expresses its utmost confidence in this union’s officials and executive members,” said the statement. “The majority of our members are already signed off and with few exceptions all others will shortly be in the same position. Until such time as the Seamen’s Union members are engaged to man the ships again members of the Cooks and Stewards’ Union will remain ashore.”

A meeting of Auckland cooks and stewards will probably be held next week.
