PAKISTAN FRIGATES
VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND THIS MONTH
(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. April 12 The Minister of Defence (Mr. T. L. Macdonald) has announced that the Royal Pakistan Navy trigates Shamsher (Commander M. A. Alavi, R.P.N.) and Sind (Lieuten-ant-Commander C. S. Ahmed. R.P.N.) are due to visit New Zealand this month. They will be the first Pakistan warships to visit New Zealand since the Royal Pakistan Navy was formed as a separate unit of the Commonwealth naval forces in 1947.
Both ships have been taking part in the combined exercises of unitg of the British Commonwealth navies in Australian, waters. The frigates are due to arrive at Wellington on April 15, and will sail for Auckland on April 19. Their stay there will be from April 21 to April 25.
