ST. ANDREWS "The Press" Special Service TIMARU, April 12. Quality cattle were in most demand at to-day’s sale at St. Andrews, a penning of 120 head coming forward. Secondary sorts eased fully 30s a head. Well-bred cattle in the extra large yarding of store cattle, created a firm demand, the bulk of the yarding changing hands at auction. The fat lamb and sheep entry was also very large, with fat ewes showing a slight easing tendency. The south annual draft ewes were in most demand in (he large store sheep entry, which comprised a large. selection of ewes and lambs. Medium quality lambs were hard to quit. Values were:— Fat Cattle.—Prime heavy steers, £3l 7s 6d-to £34 2s 6d;. prime steers. £25 2s 6d to £2B 7s fid; light steers, £l9 2s 6d to £23 7s 6d. Prime cows, £2l 7s fid to £26 7s 6d; light to medium cows, £l6 2s 6d to £l9 7s 6d. Prime heifers, £22 7s 6d to £27 7s 6d; 'ight heifers, £l7 2s 6d to £2O. Store .Cattle.—Three-year-old steers, to £lB 10s; two-year steers and heifers, £ll 5s to ,£l4; yearling steers and heifers, to £lO l£s; calves, £7 10s to £lO 10s. Fat Sheep and Lambs.—Prime wethers, ,£5 2s Id to £6; prime lambs, 81s Id to 98s Id; light lamta, to 76s lid. i Prime ewes. 74s Id to 82s Id; medium ewes. 62s id to 69s Id: light e ves, 45s Id to 51s lOd. Store Sheep.—S.M.-Romney cross ewes. 70s to 79s 6d: failing-mouth ewes. 52s to 60s; medium wether lambs, to 60s; me-iium ewe lambs, to 60s; rape ewes, 40s to 47s fid.
