SWIMMING
FORMATION OF DISTRICT CENTRES OPPOSED A proposal that a New Zealand District Swimming Association should be formed having five centres throughout New Zealand, was opposed by th* Canterbury centre of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association last evening. The proposal suggested that centres should be formed in Auckland. Hawke’s Bay. Wellington, Canterbury, arid Otaeo. Each district centre would be responsible for all the centres in its area, and a New Zealand council would be farmed with a delegate from each district centre. The Canterbury centre opposed the proposal oh the ground that a. district association could not do anything that the New Zealand Council of the Amateur-Swimming Association Could not already do. It was said that, if the Canterbury centre lost -any more members through such councils it.would increase the difficult* It at times had In managing Its own affairs.
