FOOD DESTROYED IN BRITAIN

MEAT, POULTRY, AND RABBITS (Special Correspondent N.ZJ’.A.) (Rec. 7.45 pan.) LONDON, March 7. The Minirar of Food (Mr Maurice Webb) stated in the House of Comnena that food destroyed or used for purposes other than human consumption by the Ministry of Food for the first nine months of 1950 represented in value just over £1,000,000 or .07 per cent, of the tojal annual turnover. This included meat, poultry, and rabbits.

Mr Webb said that the range of foodstuffs was so wide, including manv handled by private traders, that it was not possibe to give accurate and comprehensive figures. The chief item was home-killed meat—4B4B tons valued at £845,000.
