PROVINCIAL REGATTA AT WELLINGTON (New Zealand Press Association)

WELLINGTON, March 4. In spite of a sultry sky and patches of squally water, conditions were good on the Wellington harbour for the provincial regatta on Saturday. A stiff northerly breeze in the morning dictated the use of the Korokoro course. Petone crews gained most of the placings with three firsts, six seconds, and one third. In a closely-fought senior fours. Napier, the national champions, were only just beaten by Aramoho and Blenheim. Napier had a hard job to hold its lead in the junior fours from Avon. Results are:—

Maiden Fours.—Petone I 1, Blenheim 2, Napier 3. Five lengths; length and a half. Senior Pairs.—Blenheim 1. Aramoho 2, Wellington 3. Twelve lengths; five lengths. Maiden Doubles.—Avon 1, Star 2. Aramoho 3. Three lengths; one length. Light-weight Maiden Fours.—Wanganui 1, Union (Wanganui) 2, Petone 3. Three lengths; one length. Senior Single Sculls.—Petone I 1, Petone H 2. Three lengths. Junior Fours.—Napier 1. Avon 2, Arapawa- Maori 3. Three-quarters of a length: two lengths.

Junior Double Sculls.—Star 1, Wellington 2, Avon 3. Half a length; three lengths. Senior Fours.—Aramoho 1, Blenheim 2, Napier 3. Half a length; three feet. Welter-weight Junior Fours.—Union (Wanganui) 1, Petone II 2, Star 111 3. Four lengths; length arid a half. Maiden Pairs.—Wellington I 1, Wanganui I 2, Avon 3. Three lengths; half a length. Junior Single Sculls.—Wellington I 1. Star 2, Avon 3. Two lengths; four lengths. Novice Fours.—Star I 1, Petone I 2, Star IH 3. Length and a quarter; five lengths.
