The day in Christchurch yesterday was fine, the maximuni temperature being 62 degrees. At midnight, the sky was overcast, and there was a light wind from the north-east The temperature was 54.2 degrees. The barometer, at 29 982 inches (1015.3 millibars), was falling slowly.
