LOCKE’S COMMENT ON TOUR
(Rec. 11 p.m.) SYDNEY, November. 6. “New Zealanders are far more interested in both professional and anpateor golf than are Australians.” said the British Open golf champion, A. D. (“Bobby”) Locke, when he returned to Sydney by air from New Zealand to-day. z , . M I played 10 exhibition matches and had an average gallery ot 900 At Napier or. a wet afternoon I had 800 fallowing me. “Only twice in* Australia —once in Sycfhey and once in Melbourne—have I had a really big gallery. “It appears that Australians do not fat as big a kick out of watehing as New Zealanders.” Locke said that he considered the pndard of amateur golf in New Zeavery high. “Tim Woon, of £«istchnrch. and Joe Holden, Of New Plymouth, could hold their own in any wuntry.” he said.
