TROTTING HANDICAPPER' FOR SOUTHLAND "The Press" Special Service INVERCARGILL. October 17, An association of 30 years as handicapper to Southland trotting clubs has ended with the resignation of Mr H. A. Pierce, of Winton, as Southland handicapper to the New Zealand Trotting Conference. Mr Pierce has decided to retire from his official duties after a lifetime of ser-
vice to the trotting sport in Southland. From 1921 to 1933 lie was both trotting and galloping handicapper for practically all clubs in Southland. He retired from his duties as galloping handicapper, but continued to officiate as * trotting handi- . capper. With the introduction of the j mechanical system he was appointed • Southland handicapper to the New Zea- . land Trotting Conference in 1933, and has . carried out those duties since. In future the handicaps for trotting i meetings in Southland will be issued from . Christchurch.
