Long Cattle Trek

A large and difficult cattle-droving iob was completed in the Wakatipu district. Otago, last week. Between 300 and 4CO head of cattle from the large stations at the head of Lake Wakatiu i were driven by three men and 13 dogs over an 80-mile journey which began at Glenorchy. followed the difficult lakeside track to Queenstown. and went from there to Arthur’s Point Arrowtown, and through the Kawarau Gorge to Cromwell. The cattle were to be sold to low-country farmers for fattening.
