WINTER SPORTS CLUB’S CHAMPIONSHIPS N. Hamilton and Miss A. Johnson won the men’s and women’s ski-ing championships of the Canterbury Winter Sports Club, which were held at the week-end at Mount Cheesman. The men’s slalom was held over a vertical drop of about 400 feet, the women’s slalom over about 300 feet, and the downhill over about 1000 feet. The events were held in spring snow and overhead conditions were good. Results were:— Men’s Championship Downhill.—N. Hamilton (53.65ec, no points against) 1; R. Johnson (Imin 6sec. 27.56 points against) 2; W. Brook (Imin 44.8 sec, 31.11 points against) 3; D. Matson (I.46sec, 37.96 points against) 4. Slalom.—W. Platts (3min o.2sec, no points against) 1: D. Booth (3min I.Bsec O. points against) 2; N. Hamilton (3mip 4.6 sec, 1.46 points against) 3; E. Rich (3min 7.6 sec, 1.80 points against) 4. Total points: N. Hamilton (1.46 points against) 1; R. Johnson (20.43) 2; J. Maher (46.04) 3: D. Booth (46.1) 4. Women’s Championship Downhill.—Miss A. Johnson (2min 21.8 sec, no points against) 1; Miss F. Cracroft Wilson (4min 14.8 sec, 76.39 points against) 2; Mrs L. Flower (smin 13.2 sec 95.59 points against) 3. Slalom.—Miss Johnson (2min 17.2 sec. no points against) 1; Miss Cracroft Wilson (3min 41sec, 36.96 points against) 2: Mrs L. Flower (3.sBsec. 40.94 points against) 3.
