OFFICIAL FORECASTS “The Press” Special Service WELLINGTON, Sept. 17. The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours after the time of issue, is:— Situation: an anti-cyclone covers New Zealand. Forecast: light to moderate north-east winds predominating. Weather fair or fine apart from some areas of coastal cloud. Temperatures cool, but rising. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is as follows: Light variable winds, easterly to northerly predominating. Weather fair to fine with moderate or mild day temperatures. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday was fine and mild, with a light easterly Wind. At midnight, the sky was clear and there was a very light north-east wind. The temperature was 40.7 degrees. The barometer, at 30.251 inches (1024.4 millibars), was falling slowly.
