The weather forecast for Canterbury issued at 9 p.m. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 27 hours after the time of issue, is:— Situation: an anti-cyclone is centred to tbe west of the South islajid. A depression north of New Zealand is moving south-east. Forecast: light to moderate southerly winds predominating. Weather cloudy, with some scattered light showers at first, clearing during the day. Temperatures cool to moderate. WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is as follows: Light to moderate easterly winds predominating. Weather fair to fine. Temperatures cool to moderate. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday Was overcast and cool, with several light lho'.ve;-s. The maximum temperature was 47.4 degrees. At midnight the sky was almost clear and there was no wind. The temperature was 37.8 degrees. The barometer, at 30.263 inches (1024.8 millibars), was steady.
