SCHOOLBOYS’ CHESS TOURNAMENT
BARKER AND GLASS SHARE LEAD (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, September 7. With five out of seven rounds completed, two players, I. Barker (Christchurch) and R. J. Glass (Dunedin) are equal leaders, with four points, in the New Zealand secondary schoolboys’ chess championship. Next are G. T. Adams (Dunedin) and B. R. C. Butt (Auckland), with three points. Results:— Second Round.—Glass beat Richards (We.’lington), Adams beat Barker, Kay (Gisborne) beat Hift (Auckland), Butt beat Park (Timaru). Third Round.—Richards beat Adams, Park beat Glass, Hift beat Butt, Barker beat Kay. Fourth Round.—Barker beat Richards, Butt beat Kay, Adams beat Park, Glass beat Hift. Fifth Round.—Glass beat Kay, Adams beat Hift, Richards beat Park, Barker beat Butt.
