BRITISH SCIENCE CONFERENCE
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 8.30 p.m.) LONDON, August 30. The annual conference of the British Association for the Advancement of Science—Britain’s most important annual Scientific gathering—Will open in Birmingham to-day, when the president of the society, Sir Harold Hartley, will deliver his inaugural aedress in the Birmingham Town Hall. His subject will be “Man’s Use of Energy.” To introduce the conference to the public Sir Harold Hartley appeared on 8.8. C. television on August 28, when be discussed the. objects pf the conference with Dr. Ernest Marsden, New Zealand scientific liaison officer in London. • After its inaugural proceedings the conference, Which includes many distifiguished overseas scientists, will divide into 13 sections which will carry out independent reviews and discussions.
