RED CROSS SOCIETY

Darfield.—Mrs R. S. Gunn presided at the monthly meeting of 'he Darfield Red Cross Society and reported on the recent Red Cross conference held in Christchurch. Arrangements were finalised for a concert to be held on September 7 for Red Cross funds. The Sheffield Institute will present its play, which was first for New Zealand in the Institute drama competition. Little River.—The president (Mrs Wright) presided at a meeting of the Little River sub-branch of the Red Cross Society recently. A letter was received from Lady Wigram thanking members for their help at the Red Cross shop held in Christchurch. Mrs Wright extended special thanks to Mrs A. Mould for carrying gcods to the shop. It was decided to cater as usual for runners and officials in the Canterbury Centennial Takahe-Akaroa road race at the fifth stage in Coop town.
