CENTRAL MISSION IN CHRISTCHURCH
WORK UNDERTAKEN BY METHODIST CHURCH The Christchurch Central Mission, founded by the Rev. Miller as an independent mission, has now been incorporated in the Christchurch East circuit of the Methodist Church. This was announced yesterday at the annual meeting of the North Canterbury District Synod of the Methodist Church.
The last stage of the negotiations, which began in 1947, was completed only a few days ago. Since Mr Millar’s control of the mission ended about two years ago, the Rev. V. R. Jamieson, of the East Belt Methodist Church, has been the acting-director, and he will now take charge of the new mission. The establishment of social service missions in the four main centres is the aim of the New Zealand Methodist conference. In Dunedin, the church has a strong mission iff its own building. The Cfiristchurch mission will be known as the Christchurch Methodist Central Mission.
