AMALGAMATION
Sir, —I have read a lot in the newspapers recently of the good things that the City Council has done for Sumner, and we appreciate what has been done —grass plots, etc. —and are thankful for it. But there is no provision made for one section of the public at Sumner —the bathers or swimmers. There is a bathing shed, but between this shed and the sea there is a very high barrier of rocks and bbulders of various sizes, and only persons who ard very active or very reckless can cross rocks in bare feet or otherwise. It would not be a very hard or expensive job to put some kind of a stairs over these boulders. The bathing shed is quite good enough and suits the purpose, but it is very much too small. I would suggest that a new shed be built for boys, and then adults and all would be happy.—Yours, etc.. CITIZEN, SUMNER. August 29, 1950.
