P. WYLIE WINS ROAD RACE
ASHBURTON-CHRISTCHURCH EVENT
The Christchurch Amateur Cycling Club’s fifth annual Ashburton-Christ-church road race was held on Saturday. More than 80 riders took part. Conditions were excellent with a slight easterly breeze. The scratch men gave away starts of up to 25 minutes, but they missed fastest time by the small margin of 4sec. Following were the results:— P. Wylie (Christchurch), 16min, 2hr 13min 58sec, 1; G. Miles (Papanul), 19min, 2hr 16mm 58 l-ssec, 2; R. Keating (Papanui), 22min, 2hr 19min 58 2-6 sec, 3; R. Mitchell (Papanui), 4; M. Spence (Papanui), 5; K. Cdttermole (Papanui), 6; D. Ashley (Avon), 7. Fastest time: D. Wapp (Christchurch), 2imin, 2hr Imin 55sec, I; R. Boocock (Papanui), 2hr Imin 55 3-3 sec, 2. Junior fastest time: G. Hill (Christchurch), 2hr 2min 55 4-ssec, 1; W. Smith (Papanui), 2. First Christchurch rider unplaced: A. J. Woods. First visiting rider unplaced: S. J. Howes (Timaru). First first season's rider unplaced: J. Rogers (Avon).
