AUCKLAND PORT DISPUTE
OVERTIME WORK TO BE RESUMED UNION AND BOARD AGREE ON ISSUES (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 23. Overtime work at the port of Auckland will be resumed to-morrow night by members of the Auckland branch of the Harbour Boards’ Employees' Union. This was decided at a meeting of the union to-night. Mr H. G. Purchase, secretary of the union, said that a meeting with the Harbour Board held in the afternoon had enabled most of the matters complained of to be adjusted. The others were being investigated with a viiw to an early settlement. F ‘ McC’dium, chairman of the Harbour Board, said that the meeting had been very satisfactory. The union s decision ends the stoppage of work on the Waterfrofit after ° n - s ?turday mornings which has been in force since the beginning of last week. Those directly involved were crane-drivers, tallvCierks, and other workers in wharf Bo e a d rrt-« an t d th ? Cre^L 0f the Harbour Board s two tugs. The action of the union has prevented members of the Waterside workers' Union also from working any overtime.
