MAN FATALLY STABBED
MURDER CHARGE LAID (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 23. A man was stabbed with a butcher’s knife in a boarding-house in Crum-i mer road, Grey Lynn, about 6.45 p.m. to-day, and died a quarter of an hour later. Another resident of the house was arrested and charged with murder. The dead man was Edward Poteka, aged 36. He received a wound in the chest, a slashing wound down the face, and another which opened his upper left arm. The man arrested is Ralph Smart, aged 42. a trimmer, employed by the Westfield Freezing Company, Ltd. He will appear in the Police CoUrt to-morrow morning. Mr Poteka occupied ap upstairs flat with his wife. Smart and his wife occupied the other flat on the same floor.
Mr Poteka died soon after he was taken to hospital.
