CHATHAM ISLANDS HOSPITAL

MEDICAL OFFICER APPOINTED

Dr J W. Saunders, of the resident medical staff of the Christchurch Hospital, has been appointed medical officer at the Chatham Islands, succeeding Dr. J. W. G. Gibb. Dr. Saunders will remain for about three months. The Health Department has advised the North Canterbury Hospital Board that the salary of £l5OO a year for the position will be subject to a refund of £BOO to the board in payment for school medical work and general medical services as the Chathams are a special area under the Social Security Act.
