SCHOOLBOY HOCKEY TEAM
N.Z. TOURING SIDE WINS FIRST MATCH t SYDNEY, August 22. In the opening match of the Australian tour, the Neu' Zealand schoolboys’ hockey team to-day beat Epping Grammar School, 6-2. The New Zealand boys showed wonderful positional play and also impressed with their co-ordination and their strong hitting. For New Zealand, goals were scored by D. Watts (2). T. Crossman (2), R. Calkin, and W. Jessop. After the match the team left fo: Canberra, where it will be welcomed R? K h H) Governor_General (Mr w - J - Explosion Aboard Train.— Six Bedouin Arabs were killed and 11 injured in an explosion in a train travelling from Mersa Matruh to Alexandria. Three coaches were damaged and traffic was suspended. The explosion is believed to have been caused when a Bedouin passenger attempted to throw a sack of explosives from the train—Cairp, August 21. Killed by Thunderbolt. Two brothers were killed by. a thunderbolt in Araleto, a suburb of the north Portuguese city of Braganca. Serious damage was caused to vineyards in the Braganca and Oporto districts by waterspouts and thunderbolts.—-Lis-bon, August 21.
