WOMEN’S DIVISION OF FEDERATED FARMERS
Kaituna.—A demonstration on the making of a trifle was given by Mrs C. de Pass at the August meeting of the Kaituna branch of the Women’s Divi- °! Federated Farmers, which was ° th® home of the- vice-president, Mrs Cynl Gray. The appeal tor aid for urete met with a ready response and a parcel of food and clothing will be forwarded to the R.S.A. in Christchurch. It was proposed to send money to the United Nations Children’s Appeal A competition arranged for the afternoon by Mrs Gray was won by Mesdames L. Co °P a. nd fatten. Monthly competitions resulted as follows:—chocolate cake: Mrs P. de Pass 1, Mrs Patten 2; toy: Mrs Patten and Mrs Tmniswood (equal) 1, Mrs p - de Pass 2; flowers: Mrs C. de Pass. Cust-West Eyreton.—Arrangements for a farewell party for Mrs Colin Mclntosh, the first president of the branch and housekeeper advisory member for 18 years, who is leaving the district, were made at the August meeting of the Cust-West Eyreton branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. The president (Mrs Wheeler), who presided, reported on the conference. Members decided to offer to plant a tree in each of the three school grounds in the district to mark its silver jubilee and the centennial of Canterbury. Competitions resulted as follows:—miniature container of flowers: Mrs May 1, Mrs Judson 2, Mrs Horrell 3; large potato: Mrs Douglas 1, Mrs Horn 2, Mrs Judson 3 Papanui-Waimairi.—Another new member was welcomed by Mrs R. Nicholls who presided at the August meeting of the Papanui-Waimairi branch of the Women’s Division of Federated Farmers. During the month the convener of the white group (Mrs Thomson) arranged an enjoyable gathering for new members. Competitions for the month resulted as ioHows:—six mixed sandwiches: Mrs Rodgers 1, Mrs Higham 2; felt novelty: Mrs riigham 1, Mrs Cresswell 2; tumbler of mixed flowers: Mrs Vial 1, Mrs Patterx? n u 2 ii sl P gl< ; bloom: Mrs Harris 1, Mrs 2; cluster: Mrs Vial 1, Mrs Marshall and Mrs Higham (equal) 2 Diamond Harbour-Purau.—An interesting account of her travels abroad was given by Mrs J. Ferrier, of Christchurch, speaker at the August meeting of the Diamond Harbour-Purau b f a ?*K of the Women’s Division ol FederaJe?.FarJ?Prs ’ which was held at the home of Mrs Pritchett. Church Bay. In annreciation of her visit. Mrs Hunter presented Mrs Ferner with a gift of sweets and flowers. The president reported on the planting of a ribbonwood tree to commemorate centennial year. Competitions for the month resulted as follows:—modern arrangement: Mrs Pritchett 1, Mrs F< and i7?,’ Mrs Jackson 3. Large bloom: Mrs Miller 1, Mrs Candy 2. Mrs Hunter olllver (equal) 3. Small bloom: Mrs Miller 1, Mrs Olliver 2, Mrs Candy 3. Miniature: Mrs Hunter 1, Mrs Candy 2, Mrs Olliver 3. Sweets: Mrs Hayes 1, Mrs Candy 2, Mrs Jackson 3. The cup for the month was won by Mrs Candy.
