COMPROMISE PROPOSALS TO BE PUT TO MEN
(New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, August 20. Compromise proposals to settle the dispute which resulted in Rotowaro coal miners stopping work last Friday will be placed before the men tomorrow. This follows a meeting between Mines Department officials and members of the Northern Miners’ Union executive in Huntly. The State-owned Rotowaro underground mine and two allied open cast workings became idle on Friday because of the disputed interpretation of an agreement. This concerned an additional rate> of pay for separating fire clay and. stone from hewn coal. Two open cast mines also did not work on Saturday, which in thia instance was a normal working day.
