SEED-TESTING STATION

ATTITUDE OF GRAIN MERCHANTS (From Our Parliamentary Reporter,) WELLINGTON, August 14. No reference to the most desirable location for the seed-testing station at Palmerston North was made by the executive council of the New Zealand Grain, Seed, and Produce Merchants’ Federation in a resolution passed at a meeting last month. This comment was made in a statement issued by the federation to-day on remarks made in the House of Representatives recently by Mr W. B. Tennent, member' of Parliament for Palmerston North, about the activities of the seed-testing station. “Mr Tennent is reported to have said that the merchants passed a unanimous resolution that they were perfectly satisfied with’ the work being done by the station at Palmerston North and that it should remain there,” said the statement. "This is not correct. “The federation can only assume that Mr Tennent is referring to a resolution passed by the New Zealand executive council at its meeting in Wellington last month. The resolution was merely to the effect that a letter should be sent to the seedrtesting station expressing the appreciation of merchants for the excellent service being given to the seed trade at present. No reference was made in the.resolution to the most desirable location for the station, nor was it even discussed by the council.”
