SECOND CHILD OF PRINCESS
PREPARATIONS FOR ROYAL BIRTH 'LONDON, August 8. Preparations for the Royal birth have been completed at Clarence House, the London home of Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh. The gynaecologists and physicians are expected to be called to Clarence House at any time within the next day or two. The King and Queen, with Princess Margaret, returned to Buckingham Palace to-night by car from Sandringham, their country residence in Norfolk. It is understood that they will remain in London instead of making their early August visit to Balmoral Castle in Scotland, so that they can be in town for the birth of Princess Elizabeth’s second child. Power Blackouts in Sydney.—The power blackouts yesterday and last night were officially described as “about the worst thife year.” They covered 169 Sydney districts, and affected the whole of the metropolitan area. At the morning and evening peaks the demand was 100,000 kilowatts greater than the generating capacity of all power stations.—Sydney. August 8.
