VICTORIAN SKI TEAM
VISIT TO N.Z. FOR CHAMPIONSHIPS Members of the Bogong Ski Club, Victoria, who arrived at Wellington in the Monowai on Tuesday, will attend the New Zealand ski championships at- Queenstown and the Canterbury, South Island and centennial championship meeting at the Canterbury winter Sports Club’s headquarters at Mount Cheeseman. When the visiting team passed through Christchurch yesterday morning on its way to Queenstown, it was met by the president of the Canterbury Winter Sports Club (Mr R. M. Simmers) and a vice-president (Mr G. W. A. <Day). The team will return to Canterbury in about 10 days’ time. The Bogong club is the present holder of the Victorian ski club championship. It claims to be the first Australian ski club to send a team to New Zealand. The team has nine members, including Mrs St. Elmo, who was woman champion of the Federation of Victorian Ski Clubs in 1949. Mrs St. Elmo’s husband is manager of the team.
