ARTILLERY AND TANK SHOOTING
BURNHAM TRAINEES HOLD PRACTICES
Trainees at Burnham Camp in the Armoured Corps will complete a tank shoot at Birdling’s Flat to-day. For the last three days they have been bivouacked at Birdling’s Flat and have been holding range practices.' The trainees have been using both Valentine andk Stuart tanks. * They have been firing only at stationary targets. The include gunnery, wireless and driving, maintenance and crew training. On Tuesday, the trainees were inspected, by. the senior Armoured Corps officer for, Southern Military District (Major A. E. M. Lawrence). The officer commanding Southern Military District (Brigadier G. B. Parkinson) also visited the practices in the afternoon. Major Lawrence said he was quite satisfied with the display given. On Tuesday ’- also, trainees in the Artillery Cores, using 25-pounders. held a live shell practice at Mount Tor’esse. Lieutenant-Colonel E. T. Kensington, who commands the 3rd Field Regiment, to which trainees will be postedl after they complete their 14 weeks’ training, was present. Major H. C. Bliss, commander of the 32nd Battery. the Christchurch component of the regiment, was also present.
