MATCH WITH SOUTH i AUCKLAND MARGIN OF 46 POINTS (New Zealand Press Association) HUNTLY, August 8. The English Rugby League team completely outclassed South Auckland at Huntly to-day. Before an attendance of over 3000 the English team won by 51 points to 5. The Englishkicked for the line only twice, and frequently commenced scoring movements from right on their own line. Bullet-like speed in passing and magnificent backing up were seen. In spite of the large score the tackling of the South Auckland team was much better than Auckland’s tackling on Saturday, and time and «gam English movements were halted, lhe English full-back, J. Cunliffe, was most impressive and joined attacks on numerous occasions. a fi £ st P° ints were scored by South Auckland, when McKenzie kicked a penalty goal after six minutes. England tnen scored from a brilliant back movement, in which Pepperell broke through to send Street across. Gee goaled. Excellent tackling by the home team kept England quiet for 10 minutes. Then the backs were away again, Danby bursting through to score. After 26 minutes. Gee goaled from a free kick. Hilton then scored a fine try.with a 50-yard run, and Gee converted it. Another penalty for offside play allowed Gee to kick another splendid goal. Pepperell and Bradshhw broke away up the middle of the field, and Street raced over under the posts, Gee converting. The half-time score was: England 22, South Auckland 2 Six minutes after half-time, the English forwards and backs handled smartly for the inside centre, Williams, to score. McKenzie and Nathan made a break for South Auckland, but Turner could not reach his pass. Danby was the next to score for England. Bradshaw made a great opening on his own twenty-five, and Danby received to run 50 yards. Gee again converted. , In spite of solid tackling, particularly by Doake, Stevens, and McKenzie, England scored again, about eight men handling the ball before Danby raced acrdss. Gee converted from a difficult angle. Danby scored his third try in seven minutes from another fine back movement. After many attempts, South Auckland scored, Rodgers finishing a movement opened by Moyes and Doake. Featherstone then scored a good try for England. Bradshaw went into scrum-half for the next scrum, broke clean round the open side, and gave Pepperell a 30-yard run for a try, Gee again converting. Bradshaw attacked from his own goalline, Gee joined in, and passed to Jilton on the twenty-five. Jilton ran to halfway, kicked over the full-back’s head, retrieved the ball, and scored under the posts. Gee converted. The game ended «oon afterwards.
