Mr Justice Northcroft • will leave Christchurch to-morrow for Blenheim where he will preside at sittings of the Supreme Court. He will then go to the West Coast to preside at the Supreme Court sessions. The Rev. Father E. M. Joyce, the Roman Catholic Bishop-designate of Christchurch, returned to Auckland by flying-boat from Sydney yesterday after a month in Australia. He will be consecrated bishop on July 16. (P.A.) Captain A. J. Steel, M.8.E., of Burnham, has been promoted temporarymajor and quartermaster, according to the Gazette. Lieutenant W. H. Dyson, a Regular Force officer stationed at Burnham, has been promoted to captain. Lieutenant A. A. Pullen. N.Z.A.S.C.. Burnham, has been promoted to the rank of captain. Mr H. P. V. Ball, inspector for the Christchurch branch of the Victoria Insurance Company, Ltd., has been transferred to Nelson as resident inspector. Mr A. S. Ellis has been appointed to the Riccarton Licensing Committee, replacing Mr R. T. Bailey. Mr H. H.. Elworthy has been appointed a member of the board of trustees under the Timaru Racecourse Reserve Act.
