LIVE SHOOT FROM TANKS

EXERCISE AT BIRDLINGS FLAT

As a climax to their gunnery course 13 recruits at present in training at Burnham took part in a live snoot from tanks at Birdlings Flat yesterday. The recruits fired two-pounder guns and Besa machine-guns from two Valentine tanks.

Afterwards Major R. J. Abbott, who is the commander of recruits training in armour, said that the exercise had been most successful and the shooting had been of quite a high standard. Recruits in training for other formations. such as the Army Service Corps and the Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and learner cooks, participated in the operation. The weather was fine.
