LAND BALLOT HELD

The successful applicant in a land ballot held yesterday at the Lands and Survey Department was Mr C. W. Grigg, of Springburn. The property offered was an undefined section of the Woodvale Farm Settlement. The settlement comprises the property being acquired by the Crown from Mr James Campbell. It covers an area of about 2208 acres, and is situated on the South Hinds and Limestone creek roads. 28 miles west of Ashburton. The settlement is eventually to be subdivided into two units each with an estimated carrying capacity of c.bout--1000 ewes and replacements with 40 two and a half year old steers. There were only two applicants.
