DONATIONS BY FELLOW EMPLOYEES (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 2. Twenty tramway motormen and men and women conductors in Auckland yesterday answered an urgent call to provide blood for transfusion to a conductor. Mr A. Hellriegel, aged 48, of Grey Lynn, who was in a serious condition in the Auckland Hospital as the result of a tram accident on Wednesday. When the St. John Ambulance Association was informed that the blood bank at the hospital was nearly empty, it asked the Auckland Transport Board if any of the staff would offer a pint of blood. Thiry minutes after the call, the first of the tramway workers arrived at the hospital’s blood transfusion Twenty donations were made. Mr Hcllriogers condition was reported last night to be serious.
