Sir. —Christchurch is a city of cyclists and necessarily so. Thousands of persons could not manage without their bicycles. Yet what is done to ensuz-e their safety? One seldom reads a newspaper without reading of a cyclist who has been killed or injured by a motorist. An honest citizen cycling home from work is killed by a motorist. Result: less production for his country, a sorrowing wife and in some cases, fatherless children. Seme motorists appear to think that our streets and roads are made for motorists only.— Yours, etc.. SAFETY FOR CYCLISTS. June 2, 1950.
